This body of text-based work was conceived as individual memorials to recently deceased family and friends. Formally they inhabit the vertical tombstone shape while also referencing portraiture. Each mirrored surface temporally fixes the presence of the viewer. The text is adapted from song lyrics with the intent to poetically synchronize the relationship between music, memory and connections through the lens of mortality. Lines from songs popular in the 60’s - 70’s are readapted through the slight reconfiguration of text. Tenses and words are slightly altered or mirrored to be recognizable but different – one could think of it as being a form of initialization.
